NVIDIA has denied Webbie type
rumours over the weekend that its Nforce chipset/platform will need re-engineering
and are suffering delays.
But to get the denial from the
mouth of an Nvidia executive, you will have to speak the Queen of Languages:
French, which we know our old mate Roy Taylor speaks like a native.
The chipset, widely demonstrated
at the June Computex show in Taipei, and which will support high end graphics
and quality sound systems, is, to the best of our knowledge, currently sampling,
with motherboards not available until September.
But rumours on Raging Bull and
widely discussed over the wire, suggested redesign of the chips was in order.
One French site, which you can
find here,
managed to extract a denial from a French Nvidia suit, Brian Dell Rizzo,
who said: "There are no delays or problems with the MCP portion of Nforce."
So, there are no problems with
Nforce. But then none of us thought there were until the denials started
flying, did we?
* MEANWHILE THE VOICE OF AN
AUTHENTIC Nvidiot seems to have emerged on the Tech Report forum, a reader
points out. Go here
to read what he or she says, which includes choice items such as "minor
steppings" are always possible, and the spec is finished. As we suggest
in our piece above, there appears to be an awful lot of noise going down.
