Unlike many computer speaker
systems today the ATP5’s satellites are constructed using the methodology
of having a specific speaker to produce a specific range of sound. Basically
Altec place three speakers in each satellite. The first two are comprised
of Microdrivers “tweeters” these handle high range sounds. The third speaker
is a mid-range speaker it’s located in the base. With a little innovation
and ingenuity Altec Lansing was able to create a cost effective, near flat
panel, and a great sounding speaker.
What could any good speaker
system be without a subwoofer. The ATP5 sub’s body is constructed out of
wood, therefore sounds produced by it seem full and rich. If you’re familiar
with the ATP3 speaker system, you may remember it had a down firing sub.
This new sub has had some revamping; it is now situated on the side of the
body.
