A NEW DATA SHEET
on the Athlon 4 processor suggests that overclockers will have a ball in
the future.
The report, called Mobile
AMD Athlon[tm] 4 Processor Model 6 CPGA Data Sheet, shows that AMD has
defined new clock multipliers up to 18, while the previous route for the
speed freaks only allowed a multiply of 12.5.
That means overclockability
on the mobile Athlon 4 family of a 1.8GHz clock speed (18 times 100MHz),
and as much as 2.4GHz (18 times 133MHz) on the up and coming 1.5GHz Palominos.
So the overclockers had better
oil their fans and lubricate their heat sinks ready for the day.
